City finder FAQ
Where does the population data come from?
From the U.S. Census Bureau’s Vintage 2024 population estimates for incorporated places (cities, towns, villages and boroughs), the latest official figures. Growth compares the 2024 estimate with the April 2020 base.
How is the opportunity score worked out?
It combines three signals: a higher average job value, a smaller population and positive growth all push the score up. The top 10% of your filtered list is marked in gold. It is a shortlisting estimate, not measured competition, so always check the live Google results.
Why 30,000 to 100,000 people?
Cities in this range are usually big enough to produce steady leads but small enough that a well-built local site can reach the map pack without a huge budget. Adjust the range to suit your niche.
Are the job values exact?
No. They are rough U.S. averages to compare niches against each other. Real prices vary by city, season and job size.
